Adopting an animal is a really great and rewarding way of finding your new pet as rescue animals are special and have so much love and devotion to give to a new owner. All the animals at Ard Jerkyll are given a full MOT before they are re-homed so they are ready to start their new life with all the advantages we – and you – can give them.
- Vaccinated, microchipped wormed and neutered
- Examined by a vet and treated as required
- Assessed by an experienced member of our team to determine what type of training and education they need
- Given an individual training plan depending on their needs
- Given an individual profile to help match them with their new owner
We’d love you to come and see us. Visitors are welcome to walk around the site, cattery and small animal section during our animal visiting hours, that’s 1 to 4 every day, except for Thursdays. We do, however, operate restricted viewing of the dogs to minimise their stress levels.

Pluto is a big, fun loving boy with a playful personality and a lot of affection to give. This handsome lad is looking for an active family who can give him the time, attention and companionship he enjoys so much. He loves being involved in daily life and will happily join in with whatever adventures the day brings.
Pluto is a dog who enjoys his exercise and would thrive in a home where he can get out for regular walks and playtime. One of his favourite things in the world is playing ball, and he could happily spend ages chasing after his favourite toy. When he’s not on the move, Pluto has a softer side too and enjoys relaxing with his teddies or spending time close to his favourite people. He’s also quite the fan of the outdoors and loves the chance to splash around in the sea, making him a great companion for beach walks and seaside adventures.
Pluto can live with children aged 8 and over, but he is looking for a pet free home. While he enjoys human company, he doesn’t get along well with other dogs and would much prefer to have his home and his people all to himself.
Being part Bloodhound, Pluto can be quite vocal and isn’t shy about expressing himself. This is especially noticeable when he’s left alone, as he can find being by himself difficult. For this reason, Pluto would be best suited to a home where someone is around most of the time and can give him the company and reassurance he needs. Pluto has a serious fear of the car so will need owners who are willing to work with him through that, and ideally owners who live in walking distance of great walking spots.
Pluto is a big-hearted, playful dog who will bring lots of personality and companionship to the right home. With an active family who can give him plenty of love, exercise and attention, Pluto is sure to be a loyal and entertaining companion.
