About the ManxSPCA

The ManxSPCA provides a safe haven for animals in need. Our rescue centre is a temporary home for dogs, cats and other animals that have been abandoned, neglected, injured or mistreated.

Our approach

The ManxSPCA is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating animals in need. Our approach involves providing veterinary care, behavioral support, and a nurturing environment to help them heal and thrive.

Our story

With origins dating back to 1897, the ManxSPCA has a rich history of advocating for, and protecting, animals. Our journey is filled with inspiring stories of rescue, recovery, and finding ‘forever’ homes for countless animals in distress.

Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers work tirelessly to care for rescued animals, nursing them back to health and helping them regain their confidence and our trust. From feeding and exercising to socialising and training, every effort is made to ensure that each animal receives the care and attention they deserve.

Our VISION and values

The ManxSPCA’s VISION is that the Isle of Man be ‘a place where all animals are treated with kindness, dignity and respect for their needs’. In addition to our rehoming work, we also play a crucial role in promoting animal welfare and preventing cruelty. Our education and outreach programs aim to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership, and the importance of treating animals with kindness and respect.

The ManxSPCA’s core VALUE is that we ‘never put a healthy animal to sleep’, and health is viewed both in terms of physical and behavioural wellbeing. Our three other VALUES are that ‘animals and their welfare are at the centre of everything we do; ‘we will treat everyone with courtesy, understanding and respect’; and ‘we will be professional and accountable’.

About ADCH

The Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH), established in 1985, is the leading representative charity for dog and cat rescue and rehoming organisations across the UK, Ireland, Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands. With over 160 members, ADCH brings together charities large and small, united by a commitment to safeguarding welfare standards for dogs and cats needing new homes.
Members of ADCH undergo an assessment process and must demonstrate they meet the ADCH Minimum Welfare and Operational Standards, which aim to:

  • Safeguard animal welfare with proportionate and realistically achievable standards.
  • Protect the reputation of members and the wider sector.

Being an ADCH member demonstrates our commitment to responsibly meeting these Standards for the animals in our care.
