Freyja’s footpath challenge

July 21, 2016 at 3: 05 pm by Juana Warburton

Two intrepid walkers will be setting off from the Isle of Man on 31st July to walk the Coast to Coast footpath from Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire to St Bees in Cumbria – a distance of 192 miles. The pair, Alan and Freyja MacNair, will undertake this challenge completely unaided and they will carry their food and camping equipment with them along the way. They will be crossing rugged and difficult terrain as they follow Wainwright’s route across the Pennines, Lake District and North York Moors. The walk may take as long as three weeks to complete, depending upon the weather, which is no mean feat even for this fit young pair.

Alan, a local primary school teacher, is fundraising for a cancer charity but given Freyja is a beautiful Golden Retriever she has opted to support the animal world and is raising money for the ManxSPCA. You can track their progress by visiting Freyja’s JustGiving page, and all the sponsorship raised by this four-legged fundraiser will support the animals at Ard Jerkyll.
